“Astride the Ox, I reach home.
I am serene. The Ox too can rest.”
“The tao that can be told
is not the eternal Tao
The name that can be named is not the eternal Name”
Ten Ox Herding Pictures for me are stages of practice that I find my self going though in my own journey to emptiness.
One of my old teachers “Mike” who only recently have I reconnected with mentioned that the journey is never ending. He wrote a book called Focusing Emptiness that talks about the starting of journeys that we all make in life.
“Focusing Emptiness “is about how the significant choices we make in life can be colored by the trauma we experience in childhood”
I can not say what prompted my own journey, this has not be shown to me yet. Another part of me looking for itself getting close like the ox herder, feeling I’ve found some peace no longer looking for the ox.
I call what I found “no name” I often see the blue heron, alone in the small mountain ponds in Taiwan, alone and yet filled with awareness. I take this as my totem a spirit guide.
