Delivering hospital tech for care patients can trust

Janaina Nunes

Janaina has a degree in nursing and over 10 years of experience in the healthcare sector, specialising in managing clinics, hospitals and healthcare technology. At PwC Brazil, Janaina has led projects related to the implementation of new technologies in healthcare to help deliver care patients can trust. She also has a background in coordination of patient care, overseeing quality and safety during surgical procedures. At PwC Brazil, Janaina has led projects related to the implementation of new technologies in healthcare — including implementing customer relationship management technology in one of the largest hospitals in Brazil and developing bot solutions for a call centre. Janaina is focused on looking for healthcare startups that can support our healthcare clients and reducing the risks involved in scheduling surgeries, mitigating non-compliances and financial losses.

Leading player on Japan’s wheelchair basketball team, Shimpei Oikawa
Now, Disability Inclusion Leader at PwC Japan

Shimpei Oikawa

Shimpei Oikawa has a long career as a wheelchair basketball player and coach including winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. Shimpei leads a programme at PwC Japan that supports disabled athletes to balance their athletic and professional lives. Shimpei is also the disability inclusion leader at PwC Japan. He’s participated in major international competitions and was the former team leader of the Japanese men’s national team that won a silver medal at Tokyo Paralympics.Currently, he is the executive director for the Japan Wheelchair Basketball Federation. Based on his own experience and in working with others with disabilities, Shimpei brings his unique perspective to make PwC Japan a more inclusive and accessible workplace. He leads a programme at PwC Japan that supports disabled athletes to balance their athletic and professional lives, including supporting them in building long-term working careers. Shimpei is also the disability inclusion leader at PwC Japan, supporting the firm’s efforts to build an inclusive culture.

Jo Salter

Jo was Britain’s first female fighter pilot and spent 25 years in the UK's Royal Air Force (RAF). The skills Jo honed in the RAF, such as leading a team under pressure and solving problems at pace, are critical for every organisation. Today, Jo is bringing this extensive experience to her role as Director for PwC's global Centre for Transformative Leadership. Since joining PwC, Jo has taken on a number of senior technology-related roles including co-leading PwC's transformational global digitisation programme to embed the use of new technologies across all client delivery services and to upskill PwC's global workforce. As an experienced technologist and a member of the UK’s Staff Diversity Council, she understands the importance of leadership and balancing being tech savvy with focusing on people. Jo’s experience with handling the immense pressure of being a fast jet pilot helps her quickly adapt and flex to respond to what’s happening in the now as well as being able to think ahead in a calm way. The skills Jo honed in the RAF, such as leading a team under pressure and solving problems at pace, are critical for every organisation. Today, Jo is bringing this extensive experience to her role as Director for PwC's global Centre for Transformative Leadership. In recognition of the outstanding contribution Jo has made to aviation and diversity, she was appointed MBE in the late Her Majesty the Queen’s 2022 New Year’s Honours List.
